A brake assembly including a caliper (1) a first brake pad an actuator (6) operable to force the brake pad into engagement with a rotor, and an adjuster mechanism operable to compensate for wear of the first brake pad, the adjuster mechanism (11) having a rotating component that is caused to rotate substantially in proportion to wear of the first brake pad, and is manually operable to deadjust the adjuster mechanism when replacement of the first brake pad is required, the rotating component being operably coupled to a pad wear indicator mounted on the caliper which visually indicates the amount of brake pad wear (G). <IMAGE>
