A means for mounting a tubular component on a shaft as described in the parent case, has a baulking-ring which surrounds the ring of balls to prevent an outward radial movement of the balls, the baulking-ring being movable axially when outward radial movement of the balls is required. The baulking-ring 23, Fig. 2, is integral with an outer race portion 8 which is urged by a spring 13 into engagement with an outer race portion 7; alternatively, the baulking-ring 23, Fig. 5, is independent of the outer race portion 8 and is urged by a spring 28 towards the outer race portion 7.
