Exhaust gas treating apparatus with silencer for a diesel engine

An automotive diesel engine discharges exhaust gases to a single manifold which divides into first (10) and second (11) pipes. The first has a urea release (8) to a hydrolysis catalyst (6). The second has an oxidation catalyst (7). Following subsequent merger of the two pipes, exhaust gases pass through a gas mixer (9) and a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalytic converter (5).
