An optical disk recording/reproducing apparatus capable of making the record quality the best. Data is recorded while shifting the tracking by gradually adding an offset voltage (bias value) to a tracking error signal. Thereafter, the data in the recorded area is reproduced, and the jitter value (indicating the read state of address information) of biphase data generated from a reproduction RF signal is detected by means of a biphase jitter detection circuit (20). As a shift value of the tracking bringing the data read state the best, a CPU (14) determines an offset voltage value at which the jitter value of the biphase data is the smallest, according to the offset voltage value (the shift value of tracking) added to the tracking error signal and the detected jitter value of the biphase data, and records it in a memory (15).
