摘要 Unsaturated nitriles are prepared by reacting olefines with oxygen and ammonia at 300-500 DEG C. and 0.3-10 atmospheres in the presence of a catalyst on a carrier, the catalyst comprising a mixture of oxides of elements of composition FeaBibMocPd, where a, b, c and d represent the relative numbers of atoms, a being 1-10, b being 1-10, c being 1-10 and d being 0.03-3. Specified carriers are silicic acid, pulverised pumice, smelter-slag pumice, kieselguhr, aluminium oxide, silicon carbide or mixtures thereof. Preferred ratios of reactants are 1.5-2.5 mols of oxygen (which may be in the form of air) and 1.0-1.5 mols of ammonia per mol of olefine. An inert gas may be present, and up to 20 mols of water per mol of olefin may be added as steam. In examples propylene is reacted to produce acrylonitrile. Methacrylonitrile is similarly prepared from isobutylene. Specification 867,438 is referred to.
