The cover for an opening (11) in a motor vehicle body panel (1) is made from plastic in two flat halves (31, 32) fitted over the opening from both sides and held together by fastenings (62, 63, 64). The two joined halves form a closed cavity (8) that provides the same level of acoustic insulation and response to vibration as the panel to which they are fastened. The cover has a surrounding seal (7) on the underside of the panel.
