Patxaran candy comprises wrapped sugar candy with filling of glucose syrup and patxaran (sloe liqueur)

The candy consists of a crisp sugar shell filled with a mixture of glucose syrup and sloe liqueur known as patxaran or basarana, according to the region where it is made. The filling has a consistency similar to that of honey and a liqueur content of 8.25 per cent. Each individual candy is wrapped in a layer of food-grade aluminium foil and an outer layer of paper with red (1), green (2) and white (3) stripes, decorated with sloes. (Abstractor's Note: Patxaran is a liqueur common to the Basque region of France/Spain, and red, green and white are the colours of its flag).
