PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thawing method aiming at thawing even a largely shaped object to be thawed in a relatively short time and performing thawing with high thawing quality. SOLUTION: This thawing method comprises a first thawing process of irradiating microwave at atmospheric pressure or below to thaw an object to be thawed 1 and a second thawing process performed following the first thawing process, of supplying steam at atmospheric pressure or below to thaw the object to be thawed 1. In more detail, the method comprises the first thawing process of irradiating microwave and thawing the object to be thawed 1 so as to let the entire object to be thawed 1 retain an icing condition, and the second thawing process performed following the first thawing process of supplying steam and thawing the object to be thawed so as to allow a part or the whole of the object to be thawed 1 to release the icing condition.
