PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device and a recording method which allow a data transfer rate as a storage device to be improved. SOLUTION: In the recording device and the recording method wherein data transferred from an external apparatus per first data unit are temporarily stored in a temporary storage means, read out from the temporary storage means per second data unit and recorded in a recording medium, a frequency in access from the external apparatus to each storage area of the temporary storage means is detected, and data held in storage areas to which the frequencies in access are lower than a prescribed threshold are recorded in the recording medium preferentially to data held in storage areas to which the frequencies in access are equal to or higher than the threshold.
