<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a human cell model of arthritis mainly relating to chondrocytes and chondrocyte cell-lines for use especially in studying arthritic conditions. <P>SOLUTION: This invention includes a method characterized by mineralizing calcium to produce an isolated articular chondrocyte and the chondrocyte cell-lines to mineralize calcium including the following processes: (a) a process to immortalize at least one matured human articular chondrocyte by using an immortalized agent; and (b) a process to culture the immortalized cell to produce a group of human articular chondrocytes: and a method to identify a therapeutic agent designed for the purpose of treating arthritis including the following processes; (a) a process to expose isolated chondrocytes including articular chondrocytes to mineralize calcium or at least one chondrocte-line to at least one test agent, (b) a process to observe response characteristics against the test agent, and (c) a process to identify an arbitrary agent indicating useful response for treating arthritis. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
