PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a vertical thinning-out read in arbitrary cycles at arbitrary readout line positions. SOLUTION: The vertical thinning-out read is realized without the need to specially devise a vertical scanning circuit constituting an imaging apparatus. Even when a horizontal synchronizing signal supplied from a synchronizing signal generator is supplied at fixed cycles, a horizontal synchronizing signal for thinning-out is generated in a timing generator to generate desired driving pulses.
