PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform proper transmission control even when reverse rotation state of a torque converter occurs by accurately grasping the reverse rotation state of the torque converter. SOLUTION: An engine rotational frequency change amount dNe, the vehicle speed change amount dV (or a change amount dNv of torque converter output side rotational frequency), a vehicle speed V, a speed ratio Nt/Ne and a speed ratio change rate (Nt/Nd) are selected at need and input to a torque converter reverse rotation state determination part 100 for determining the reverse rotation state of the torque converter. An accelerator opening 110 output from an opening sensor or the like of an accelerator adjusting the engine output, a range signal 111 output from a shift position sensor or the like, and a signal of a target change gear ratio 112 obtained by the control device are input at need to the torque converter reverse rotation state determination part 100. When the reverse rotation state is determined by the torque converter reverse rotation state determination part 100, determination is output to a control system change part 120 to thereby change the control system of the control device to a system according to the reverse rotation state of the torque converter.
