PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for preventing an error of calculation of knock intensity estimated values, even when ignition and combustion are performed at ignition timing in a retard side from basic ignition timing. SOLUTION: This knock control device for an engine is provided with a means (31) for estimating self-ignition timing when ignition is performed at first basic ignition timing; a means (31) for calculating the first knock intensity estimated value based on this self-ignition timing; a means (31) for calculating a combustion period when ignition and combustion are performed at ignition timing retarded from the first basic ignition timing by knock retard amount; a means (31) for calculating basic ignition timing when MBT can be obtained as second basic ignition timing, based on the combustion period; a means (31) for calculating knock intensity when ignition and combustion are performed at ignition timing retarded from the second basic ignition timing by the knock retard amount, as the second knock intensity estimated value; and a means (31) for setting the ignition timing retarded from the second basic ignition timing by the knock retard amount as knock limit ignition timing, when the second knock intensity estimated value corresponds to a slice level.
