METHOD FOR PRODUCING 1-HEXENE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 1-hexene by trimerization of ethylene which efficiently obtains a target of 1-hexene in high purity. SOLUTION: This method for producing 1-hexene by trimerization of ethylene comprises a reaction step of subjecting ethylene to trimerization reaction in the presence of a catalyst comprising a tantalum compound and an alkylating agent containing a metal to convert part of ethylene to 1-hexene to obtain a mixture containing the 1-hexene and ethylene; a catalyst deactivating step of adding a compound having a higher boiling point than 1-hexene to the mixture obtained in the reaction step to obtain a mixture; and a 1-hexene recover step of subjecting the mixture obtained in the catalyst deactivating step to distillation to obtain a gas or a liquid having 1-hexene as the major component.
