PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of mist of coolant in a large quantity due to air jet for shielding an air layer corotating following a grinding wheel when a large quantity of coolant is supplied. SOLUTION: In a coarse grinding feeding process in which cutting quantity per abrasive grain is large, heat generation quantity is large to cause high temperature, and therefore coolant is supplied in a large quantity for cooling it. Since the coolant penetrates the air layer following the grinding wheel to reach a grinding point, supply of the air jet is stopped. In a fine grinding feeding process and a micro grinding feeding process in which cutting quantity per abrasive grain is small, heat generation quantity is small, and coolant is supplied in a small quantity, while air jet is supplied to disconnect the air layer corotating following the grinding wheel.
