PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove effectively suspended solids and amoebas adhering to the filtering material and the filtering vessel in reverse washing of the inside of the vessel of the apparatus. SOLUTION: The method comprises injecting a strongly basic solution or a high-concentration chlorine dioxide solution into the filtering vessel or piping accompanying the vessel as a disinfectant, applying physical stirring, e.g. aeration with a compressor, injecting a neutralizer and causing the bath water in the apparatus to flow reversely, while applying physical stirring, e.g. aeration, again, to clean the apparatus.
