PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring system wherein a subscriber's home device receiving a call signal calls back a server apparatus and can surely detect the call signal denoting a callback request. SOLUTION: The remote monitoring system 1 includes: the subscriber's home device 2 for photographing a subscriber's house interior; and the server apparatus 4 for receiving an image photographed by the subscriber's home device 2 via a telephone line 5 and the Internet 7 and transmitting the image to a mobile terminal 3 via the Internet 7 and a mobile telephone channel 8. Upon the receipt of the call signal from the mobile terminal 3, when the number of call times up to its interruption is a number of setting call times or below set to the setting memory 4, the subscriber's home device 2 discriminates that the call signal indicates a callback request to the server apparatus 4, and makes dialup connection to the server apparatus 4. The number of setting call times in the setting memory 24 can be switched into either of three times and six times through the operation of a setting switch 17 depending on a state of the telephone lines.
