PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electronic certificate management system, method and server in which the burden of electronic certificate management on a terminal is lessened, while readily ensuring security. SOLUTION: A terminal 100 comprises a section 15 for managing the private key of a user, and a section 17 for managing authentication information. A server 200 comprises a section 21 for managing at least one electronic certificate, corresponding to a private key managed by the key managing section 15 of the terminal 100, a section 23 performing authentication processing of the user, based on the authentication information managed by the authentication information managing section 17 of the terminal 100, and a function 231 for permitting access to user's electronic certificate managed by the certificate managing section 21 for the terminal 100, when authentication processing of the user is successful.
