PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver capable of easily detecting a channel through which a digital broadcast ground wave after passthrough is broadcast. SOLUTION: This television receiver, which receives a broadcast radio wave of ground wave digital broadcasting broadcast in the UHF band through a passthrough device which outputs it by following passthrough to the VHF band or CATV band, is provided with: a 1st scanning means of deciding whether the broadcast radio wave is present in a channel selected in the VHF band and making a channel scan only in the VHF band when the broadcast radio wave is present or selecting a next channel when not; a 2nd scanning means of performing similar processes in the CATV band; a 3rd scanning means of performing similar processes in the UHF band; and a repeating means of repeating the processes by the 1st to the 3rd means one after another until a channel where the broadcast wave is present is detected.
