PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology which controls a wave shape of a drive pulse which drives a thread motor appropriately. SOLUTION: An optical disk device is equipped with; a thread filter computing unit (42) which generates output corresponding to low frequency components of displacement of a tracking actuator; pulse generation units (13, 15, 16, 44) configured so as to repeatedly generate driving pulses which drive the thread motor when the above output of the above thread filter computing unit (42) deviates from a predetermined dead zone; and a pulse shape regulator (45) which adjusts the shape of the drive pulse. The pulse generation units (13, 15, 16, 44) generate the drive pulses so as to have polarization corresponding to the polarity of the output of the thread filter computing unit (42). The pulse shape regulator (45) adjusts the shape of the drive pulse, in more specific terms, a pulse width and/or a wave height, in response to the output of the thread filter computing unit (42) and the polarity of the drive pulse generated by the pulse generation units (13, 15, 16, 44).
