PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axial flow water turbine which minimizes a degradation in water turbine performance due to cavitations by suppressing generation of a vortex cavitation in the vicinity of a vane tip inlet and generation of a sheet-like cavitation on a vane tip outlet side. SOLUTION: The axial flow water turbine is provided with: a runner boss 12; runner vanes 1 arranged around the runner boss 12; a fillet 5 arranged protrudedly from a negative pressure side of outer circumferential edge of the runner vane 1; and a discharge ring 2 forming a flow channel by surrounding the runner vanes 1. The water turbine is constituted such that R1'<R1 is satisfied, wherein R1 is a distance between the outer circumferential edge of pressure surface of the runner vane 1 and the center of the runner, and R1' is a distance between a lower end of outer circumferential side of the fillet and the center of the runner.
