PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recoil starter formed at a low cost and having high vibration resistant. SOLUTION: This recoil starter is provided with a pull rope reel (4) rotatively engaged with a shaft (reel shaft 3a) arranged in the cover case (3) of the recoil starter, a spring chamber (4c) formed in the radial and axial directions of the shaft (reel shaft 3a), and a spring (30) stored in the spring chamber (4c) and accumulating power by pulling the pull rope (5) of the pull rope reel (4). The inner peripheral surface part of the spring (30) is shaped to project in the axial direction more than its peripheral side surface part, and the inner peripheral side surface part and peripheral side surface part of the spring (30) are stored to be push-pressed in the spring chamber (4c).
