PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a prophylactic and therapeutic composition for mood disorders, containing a substance having prophylactic and therapeutic effect for mood disorders and found from edible natural products having high safety as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This prophylactic and therapeutic composition for mood disorders comprises phenethylrutinoside as an active ingredient. The prophylactic and therapeutic composition for mood disorders can prevent and/or treat mood disorders caused by melancholia or manic depressive psychosis, climacteric disorder, lowering of oestrogen secretion, or the like.
