PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parallel folding device of a folding machine capable of switching folding specifications for parallel folding and switching delivery papers simultaneously. SOLUTION: This parallel folding device is provided with a folding barrel 25 for conveying a signature, a first gripping barrel 26 provided with gripping plates 29a to 29d gripping the signature held in the folding barrel in a plurality of sections in the circumferential direction, a second upper gripping barrel 27 provided with gripping claws 36a to 36d coming into contact with the first gripping barrel in opposition and gripping the signature in a plurality of sections in the circumferential direction and supported turnably, and a second lower gripping barrel 28 provided with gripping claws 38b, 38d coming into contact with the first gripping barrel in opposition and gripping the signature in a plurality of sections in the circumferential direction. This device is provided with a cam mechanism 41 for switching a paper delivery path to deliver the conveyed signature to only the gripping claw on one side of the second upper gripping barrel and the second lower gripping barrel from a gripping plate of the first gripping barrel or deliver it to the gripping claw of the second upper gripping barrel and the gripping claw of the second lower gripping barrel from a gripping plate of the first gripping barrel and switching folding specifications by changing a phase for operating the gripping plate between the first gripping barrel and the second upper gripping barrel and/or the second lower gripping barrel after operating the gripping plate at an opposing contact position of the folding barrel and the first gripping barrel and holding it in the first holding barrel.
