PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide fine particles of an average particle diameter of 200 nm and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The fine particles of an average particle diameter of 200 nm are formed by supplying a fluid containing an object material to be crushed and a water-soluble cellulose derivative between treatment surfaces 1, 2 disposed opposite to each other in the state of being capable of coming nearer to or moving away from each other, at least either one of which surfaces can rotate relatively to the other and applying a shearing force to the fluid by rotation of the surfaces under the pressure balance between the supply pressure of the fluid and the pressure caused in the gap of rotating members.
