PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sorting apparatus capable of certainly sorting objects to be sorted one by one and shortening the time required in sorting to enable high speed sorting, and a sorting method. SOLUTION: The sorting apparatus 1 is equipped with a feed route 2 for feeding a plurality of objects to be sorted 6 while holding the order of them, the inspection part 3 provided on the way of the feed route and detecting the respective objects 6 to be sorted to acquire the data related to the objects to be sorted, a judgement part 4 for judging the objects to be sorted on the basis of the data from the inspection part and a predetermined judgement standard and capable of storing data, wherein a judgement result and the passage order passed through the inspection part are combined, and the sorting part 5 provided on the downstream side of the inspection part in the feed route and sorting the objects to be sorted on the basis of the arrival order of the objects to be sorted and the judgement result corresponding to the same passing order.
