PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic apparatus capable of accurately and stably detecting of toner density for a long term and keeping outputting high definition image excellent in gradation stability even after duration. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic apparatus is provided with at least an electrophotographic photoreceptor, a charging means, an exposure means, a development means, a transfer means, a regular reflection toner density detection means for detecting the toner density on the electrophotographic photoreceptor and an image density control means which controls image density in accordance with information of the toner density obtained from the regular reflection toner density detection means. Therein, the regular reflection toner density detection means detects the toner density on the electrophotographic photoreceptor after developing process, the surface layer of the electrophotographic photoreceptor contains cured compounds obtained by polymerizing or crosslinking compounds having polymerizable functional groups. Grooves are formed on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor with a roughening means and the grooves having the width of the grooves 0.5 to 40μm are formed in the proportion of≥20 and≤1,000 lines per unit area (/mm<SP>2</SP>).
