The divided connecting rod (1), for fitting to a motor crankshaft forming the big end bearing, uses screw bolts (5) to hold the bottom cover (4) in place with the circular opening (2) around the crankshaft. The screw bolts are at least at one point where they are welded to a part of the connecting rod by at least one spot weld (6) at the bolt head (7). The welding is effected by a laser or electron beam (8).
