<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor in which the rotating position detecting accuracy of a resolver is remarkably improved by certainly shielding a leaked magnetic flux of the resolver from the motor and to provide a motor-driven power steering apparatus using this electric motor. <P>SOLUTION: A brushless motor 1 as the electric motor includes a motor cover 11 having a substantially cylindrical motor yoke 21, a motor rotor 33 provided at a shaft 31 rotatably supported in the motor cover 11, a motor stator 34 provided at the motor yoke 21, and the resolver 13 for detecting the rotary angle of the motor rotor 31. The resolver 13 is formed to have a resolver rotor 41 mounted at the shaft and a resolver stator 42 arranged to be opposed to this resolver rotor 41.
