PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a push action mechanical pencil capable of estimating the projection amount of a core by one push. SOLUTION: The push action mechanical pencil is provided with a screw mechanism 8 which converts the rotation of an adjusting ring 2 into the movement in the longitudinal direction using a male screw and a female screw, and with a movement transmission mechanism in the longitudinal direction relative to the screw mechanism 8, a fastening ring 5 or the stopper 6 to the fastening ring, enabling the projecting length at the tip end of the core 7 to be adjusted at one push 4 by the rotation of the adjusting ring 2. The outside cover of the mechanical pencil 1 main body is provided with an elongated hole 3 along the longitudinal direction, allowing the degree of the movement in the longitudinal direction with the screw mechanism 8 to be visible from outside, with the estimated projection amount of the core 7 by one push.
