PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small check dam 1 for preventing disasters such as an avalanche of sand and stone, having a simple structure, easy in carrying and construction, and having sufficient strength against impact of the avalanche of sand and stone, by using a lightweight and inexpensive material. SOLUTION: This small check dam 1 for preventing disasters of the avalanche of sand and stone, has an upstream wall 2, a downstream wall 3, and an infilling structure 4 constructed between the upstream wall 2 and the downstream wall 3. The upstream wall 2 has a plurality of upstream side reinforcements 5, and an upstream side wall surface 7 composed of upstream side expanded metal 6 inserted into a plurality of these upstream side reinforcements 5. The downstream wall 3 has a plurality of downstream side reinforcements 8, a downstream side wall surface 11 composed of downstream side expanded metal 9 inserted into a plurality of these downstream side reinforcements 8, and a sucking-out preventive material 10 installed on the downstream side expanded metal 9. The infilling structure 4 is constructed by stacking a net material 12 laid between the upstream wall 2 and the downstream wall 3, and an infilling layer 14 composed of infilling sediment 13 packed on this net material 12 in a multilayer shape.
