PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method in which appropriate shift of charging to an electrode Y<SB>as</SB>from an electrode X is guaranteed regardless of a type of phosphor of a cell in a plasma display panel. SOLUTION: In a priming phase period, the excessive charging to at least one phosphor is avoided by differentiating voltages for charging applied between the electrodes X and Y<SB>as</SB>of the cell on at least two types of phosphors.
