The present invention is directed to a novel indwelling shunt implant (100) and an associated surgical method for the treatment of glaucoma in which the implant device comprises at least one spiral body and/or grooved or corrugat ed body and is placed to divert aqueous humor from the anterior chamber of the eye into Schlemm~s canal, the collector channels, or the aqueous venous syst em or to distribute aqueous fluid within Schlemm~s canal. The present invention is further directed to providing a permanent, indwelling shunt to provide increased egress of aqueous humor from the anterior chamber to Schlemm~s canal, collector channels, or aqueous venous system for glaucoma management.
