<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anti-theft system of a vehicle, which system can reduce the size of components and its cost, and to provide an anti-theft method of the vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The anti-theft system of the vehicle comprises a vehicle locking means 5 for restricting the operation of the vehicle by an unauthorized person, an unlock detecting means 7 for detecting the release of the lock by the vehicle locking means 5, and an electric power supply controlling means 4 for switching over the electric power, which is supplied from an electric power source 2 of the vehicle to a travelling system 6, from OFF to ON. When the unlock detecting means 7 has detected the release of the vehicle locking means 5, the unlock detecting means 7 outputs an unlock detecting signal.
