<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white light-emitting diode which exhibits less deterioration in emission characteristics, even if it is used at high luminance over a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: A light-emitting device comprises a light-emitting component using a semiconductor as a light-emitting layer and a photoluminescence phosphor which absorbs a part of light emitted by the light-emitting component and emits a light of wavelength which is different from that of the absorbed light, wherein the light-emitting layer of the light-emitting component is a nitride compound semiconductor and the photoluminescence phosphor contains garnet fluorescent material, activated with cerium which contains at least one element selected from among a group consisting of Y, Lu, Sc, La, Gd and Sm, and at least one element selected from a group consisting of Al, Ga and In. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
