PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil-water separator which has high processing performance per volume, efficiently separates an oil-water mixture solution even if oil is dispersed in the oil-water mixture solution, is used even on a rolling ship and separates oil and water of high viscosity. SOLUTION: The oil separator is provided with a cylindrical container or a tubular container which is put so that its axis may be nearly vertical, the container being closed and its upper part having an aperture at its center part. In addition, the container is provided with a bottom on its lower part to close itself and also provided with; an oil-water mixture solution feeding pipe on the sidewall of its middle part; a separated oil discharging pipe at the aperture part of its upper part; and a separated water discharging pipe in the vicinity of its bottom part; to control the quantity and pressure of the separated water flowing in the separated water discharging pipe. Further, a rotary shaft, which pierces the upper part or bottom part of the container and is parallel to the axis of the cylindrical container, is inserted in the container, and a power-rotated stirring blade is provided on the rotary shaft in the vicinity of the middle part of the container.
