PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase productivity of a charcoal furnace currently used in the industry, to shorten the time required for baking and cooling of the furnace, improve yield, and reduce labor. SOLUTION: The large-sized and high density furnace is built with a steel plate using a heat-insulation material for an inner part of the furnace. Its working entrance has the same width as that of a carbonization chamber. A large sized balance door is used in accordance with the size of an entrance so that a power vehicle can go in and out through the door. A heat-resistant container is prepared. A charcoal material is packed into the container outside the furnace and is brought into the carbonization chamber by a forklift. The container, where the charcoal material is still kept, is placed in the furnace. Flame is delivered to the carbonization chamber from three directions for baking. Nitrogen gas is fed into the furnace for cooling after stopping baking to prevent oxidation in the furnace during cooling. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
