PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain non-lead glass for covering electrodes by which the visible ray transmittance of a plasma display front substrate is increased. SOLUTION: The non-lead glass consists essentially of 20-50% B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 5-35% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 10-30% ZnO, 0-10% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0-10% SrO, 6-16% BaO, 2-16% Li<SB>2</SB>O, 0-10% Na<SB>2</SB>O+K<SB>2</SB>O, 0-9% Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0-2% CuO+CeO<SB>2</SB>, by mol, and the molar ratio (B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>+SiO<SB>2</SB>+Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>)/(Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>+BaO) is≥3.25 and MgO;CaO is≤8 mol%. In the plasma display device, transparent electrodes formed on a glass substrate constituting the front substrate, or electrodes formed on the glass substrate constituting the rear substrate are covered by the non-lead glass.
