PARALLEL FOLDING DEVICE OF FOLDING MACHINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parallel folding device of a folding machine capable of smoothly delivering a signature when folding it in parallel between a first gripping barrel and a second gripping barrel without depending on operation speed of the folding machine. SOLUTION: This parallel folding device of the folding machine arranging the first gripping barrel 26 and the second lower gripping barrel 28 by bringing peripheral faces into contact mutually in opposition is provided with a fixed guide 41 which guides a signature conveyed by passing through a peripheral face in a lower part of the second lower gripping barrel by guide plates 40A after folding it twice by gripping claws 38b, 38d of the second lower gripping barrel in cooperation with a knife of the first gripping barrel and in which the guide plates are positioned on the downstream side in the direction of rotation of an opposing contact point of the first gripping barrel and the second lower gripping barrel and are arranged in series along a peripheral face of the first gripping barrel and a peripheral face of the second lower gripping barrel and a movable guide 43 arranged to move between a position where it is closer to the peripheral face of the first gripping barrel than the fixed guide and a position where it leaves more than the fixed guide in accordance with operation speed of the folding machine by an air cylinder 42.
