PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering control device capable of surely stabilizing behavior of a vehicle even when a road surface condition changes. SOLUTION: The steering control device 1 comprises a vehicle model computation section 11, a tire characteristic model computation section 12 and a decision section 15. The vehicle model computation section 11 calculates a vehicle model lateral force characteristic V_Fy from traveling conditions such as lateral Gravity and vehicle specifications such as a wheel base. The tire characteristic model computation section 12 calculates a tire characteristic model M_Fy from various conditions such as a ground load and constants A0-A7 corresponding to tire classes on a dry road surface. The decision section 15 compares the vehicle mode lateral force characteristic V_Fy and the tire characteristic model M_Fy and increase or decreases steering torque when a difference between them exceeds a threshold.
