PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a thermoplastic resin molded article in which a mold clamping force after closing a mold is small, and which can contribute to downsizing of a molding apparatus. SOLUTION: In molding a thermoplastic resin wherein a specified amount of a melted thermoplastic resin is fed between cavity faces of a pair of a female mold and a male mold respectively have cavity faces and facing each other, and the female and male molds are made to relatively approach (however, the relative approach of the female and male molds starts during feeding the thermoplastic resin or after feeding it, and it ends after feeding the thermoplastic resin), and furthermore, the resin is pressed by the female and male molds, the relative speed of both molds when the female and male molds are made to approach is accelerated up to the maximum value Vmax, and thereafter, the relative speed is decreased from Vmax to zero, and Vmax is≥30 mm/sec and≤300 mm/sec, and the degree of speed reducing in a period where the relative speed is reduced from 50% of Vmax to 10% of Vmax is≥100 mm/sec<SP>2</SP>.
