PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a digital TV broadcast signal receiving device to which a multidirectional antenna (smart antenna) 2 is connected to speedily restart displaying a picture on the screen of a monitor device even if a TV broadcast signal can not be received normally for some reason. SOLUTION: Optimum reception directions of respective channels, and 2nd candidates and 3rd candidates for them are previously set and if a tuner 11 is unable to receive a television broadcast signal of a channel selected by a user normally in the optimum reception direction, a control part 16 switches the reception direction of the multidirectional antenna 2 to its 2nd and 3rd directions in order to receive the television broadcast signal. When the tuner 11 is unable to receive the television broadcast signal normally even in the 3rd candidate direction, optimum reception direction setting process is retried for the selected channel.
