PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a trouble-free function capable of guaranteeing quality, and to execute a measuring process required for maintaining a continuous operation with substantial no labor, in a measuring instrument having a casing provided with two measuring faces 2, 3 opposed each other. SOLUTION: A light transmitter 31 and a photoreceiver 32 arranged in a casing inner space are provided onto the respective measuring faces 2, 3, and the respective measuring faces 2, 3 have opening parts 23, 24 translucent to at last one wavelength of light.
