PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low insertion force connector in which a force of lever retaining releasing is not needed at the start of rotating the lever, in which a retaining mechanism is not damaged even if an external force is added to the rotating lever when the connector is not fitted, and in which the rotating lever is compact, simple, and has a sufficient strength. SOLUTION: When the connector is not fitted, by contacting with the operating part 6 of the rotating lever 2 which is at the initial position of the connector 1, the lever is retained at the initial position and rotation of the lever is blocked, and when the connector is fitted to the counterpart connector 4, if a lever retaining releasing projection 5 on which the counterpart connector 4 has acted, the rotation of the rotating lever 2 is made to be possible by releasing the contact to the operation part 6 of the retaining tip 8 of the lever retaining mechanism 3, and by this, the connector 1 and the counterpart connector 4 are fitted by rotating operation of the rotating lever 2.
