PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for testing a liquid crystal display panel. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display panel is constructed with a first polarizing plate, a first optical retardation plate, a liquid crystal monomer, a second optical retardation plate, and a second polarizing plate. The device for testing the liquid crystal display panel is equipped with a light source device to provide a light beam, a test board on which the liquid crystal display panel is mounted at a suitable angle with respect to the advancing direction of the light beam, on which phases of the first optical retardation plate and the second optical retardation plate are adjusted with rotation and on which one out of the first optical retardation plate and the second optical retardation plate is selected and one out of the two is replaced with the other of the two, a light capture unit which is mounted so as to oppose the light source device and which receives the light beam from the liquid crystal display panel and an optical signal measuring device to be connected to the light capture unit and to interpret the data of the light capture unit.
