PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a playback apparatus for easily determining whether data accumulated in a buffer are repeatedly reused, or data are discarded and then next data are overwritten when a playback section has a capacity larger than that of the buffer. SOLUTION: When a section specified by a starting point and an ending point of repetitive playback in one track comprising recorded data is designated, a memory controller 15 compares the temporal length of the designated repetitive playback section with the temporal length of a prescribed storage capacity of a DRAM 12 and determines whether playback is performed in a playback repetition mode within the DRAM (buffer) 12, or in a conventional playback repetitive accumulation mode based on a comparison result. For example, when the temporal length of the designated repetitive playback section is shorter than the temporal length of the prescribed storage capacity of the DRAM 12, repetitive playback processing within the DRAM using recorded data once accumulated in the DRAM 12 is performed.
