A vehicle for cleaning beaches has a screw collector (1) mounted in front of the front wheels to scrape sand and material onto a central grid (10) running the full length of the vehicle between the wheels. The grid is agitated and the collected material is dried using warm air from the engine. The grid can be split into front and rear sections with a collecting bin (6) at the rear to collect debris. An improved version can have two grids, one over the other.
