An electrically powered atomiser has a ultrasonic vibrating element (18), e.g. a piezo electric element, powered by a mains connection (16) or by a battery. A cowl (20) is supported on struts (22) above the atomiser tray and has a central hole fitted with a fan (24) to disperse the mist generated by the atomiser. The underside of the cowl is shaped to collect any splatter drops and return them into the tray The top of the cowl has a cover with apertures to cover the fan. The fan and atomiser can be powered from the same supply.
