METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SCARFING STEEL BILLET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scarfing method, by which scarfing slag to become a scab at a corner part does not remain, and by which a billet free from a surface flaw and excellent in its surface characteristics is obtained, and to provide a scarfing device suitable for carrying out the method. SOLUTION: When scarfing the whole surface of a steel billet with scarfing units provided corresponding to each surface of the billet, the scarfing method is carried out as follows: the surface is scarfed with a phase difference set at each scarfing position in a longitudinal direction of adjoining faces; or the surface is scarfed with a phase difference set at scarfing positions of adjoining corners.
