PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet printer or a compound terminal equipment capable of preventing an ink from leaking in any state. SOLUTION: The ink-jet printer is equipped with a head 10 forming an image on a medium to be recorded by discharging an ink, an ink cartridge 11 holding the ink charged to the head 10 and an ink passage 15 connecting the head 10 to the ink cartridge 11. The ink-jet printer is further provided with a switching means capable of opening and closing the ink passage 15 by detecting the installation state of a body 2 of the ink-jet printer.
